Alexandria Possible New Village Mayor (if merger)
The Mayor is the elected, village-wide executive officer of a village. The Mayor enforces laws and ordinances, oversees village operations and employees, supervises officers, recommends measures to council, and serves as the chief peace officer. In villages without a municipal court, the Mayor may also preside over a Mayor’s Court for certain misdemeanor and traffic cases.Source: Ohio Revised Code §§ 733.02, 733.23, 1905.01

The most challenging issue facing Alexandria and St Albans Township is rampant growth and development ruining the rural character of our community. Without a strong government structure in place with the the tools to direct and control economic development our community is at risk of losing its identity and culture. Pressure from the Intel project as well as Licking Regional Water Districts Moots Run Waste Water Treatment Plant are looming over our community, waiting for the green light to begin transforming our community into something that runs contrary to the desires of our residents. The merger will be the strength that allows the community to guide any development in a way that fits the community's vision and values.
My last 2 years as Mayor of the Village of Alexandria have taught me countless lessons on how government works for the people it serves. I have been able to build a great team of administrative staff to manage the village, with my focus being locked in on providing the highest level of service that a small village like ours can afford. We've been financially sound, but more importantly financially responsible, in our approach to being more professional and that has provided a more transparent operation for our community. I'm confident these experiences, along with the relationships I've made from the state government level down to our local, neighbors and partners, will help me lead the new merged village to a result that saves our rural community.
I would like to see the Village and the township merged and to be able to lead that new merged village in a way that inspires others to participate and get involved so that the rural community we all know and love is grounded in a foundation of cultural strength. My hope is that I can help lay the groundwork for the community to maintain the rural character we all appreciate.
