Newark is experiencing growth, and with that comes both opportunity and challenge. Over the next four years, we must address housing that is affordable and accessible, while ensuring new development supports the needs of our existing neighborhoods. Infrastructure such as roads, sidewalks, and safe routes for pedestrians and cyclists requires consistent investment. Newark also faces pressing financial challenges, as highlighted by the current tax levy. Residents deserve assurance that city resources are managed wisely, with smart spending that prioritizes essential services and long-term community needs. In addition, stronger communication between City Council and residents is critical, as too many decisions feel distant from the people most affected by them. Finally, building and retaining a strong workforce will require collaboration with schools, businesses, and community partners. Our opportunity is to ensure growth benefits everyone and reflects Newark’s values.
I am proud to call Newark home and to be raising my daughter here. My work has always centered on strengthening communities through communication, collaboration, and practical problem solving. I bring over 20 years of experience in marketing and community outreach, including 10 years as a small-business owner, and service as Executive Director of the Canal Market District in downtown Newark, where I worked alongside local farmers, small businesses, and families. I also served on Ohio’s State Board of Education, giving me elected governance experience and a strong understanding of how public decisions impact everyday lives. These experiences have taught me how to ask tough questions, build partnerships, and keep transparency at the center of decision making. I will bring this approach to City Council to ensure resources are managed wisely and growth truly benefits all Newark residents.
The main improvement I hope to achieve is being a strong voice for Ward 7 residents as our neighborhood undergoes significant infrastructure updates in the coming years. Too often, residents feel left out of conversations that directly impact their daily lives. My priority is to make sure Ward 7 families are heard, informed, and included as decisions are made about roads, sidewalks, and neighborhood development. At the same time, I want to strengthen communication across the city so that all residents feel connected to the work of City Council. By prioritizing transparency and collaboration, we can ensure that resources are managed wisely, growth is sustainable, and every investment reflects the needs of our families. At the end of my term, I want Ward 7 residents to feel their concerns shaped outcomes and Newark grew in a way that benefits everyone.
