Mayor - City of Heath
Work experience/qualifications (60 words)
Nearly 16 successful years as Mayor of Heath. Prior to becoming mayor, worked 10 years for banking software company as Project Manager and Product Support/Trainer.
The City of Heath has been, and continues to be, the City of Progress, Citizens with Pride. The challenges in front of us in the coming years are centered on continuing our city's legacy of success.
The growth of companies and jobs in Heath's manufacturing corridor over the last 15 years is the envy of much of Central Ohio. Continuing to grow our local economy with good-paying, blue-collar and white-collar jobs will be critical for the success of our community and families living in it.
The cost of housing in Heath, and throughout Licking County, continues to rise, making it difficult for families to purchase a home. The solution is to encourage the development of residential units, of all types, for people of all ages, to create a greater supply of housing.
Ensuring our kids get an exceptional education is important to the future of Heath. They are the future workforce for businesses in our community. City government should continue to support education efforts where appropriate.
I have lived in Heath for the past 22 years. Coupled with my experience as your mayor, I have built strong and effective relationships, with many people and many organizations, which will ensure beneficial results impacting the challenges we will face.
The leadership I provide for city departments (Police, Fire, Utilities, Streets and Parks) is focused on city services for our residents being effective now, and prepared for the future. The leadership I provide in economic-development matters has played an important role on businesses (of all types and sizes) coming to, and thriving in, the City of Heath. My close relationships with the administration, and many staff members, of the Heath City School District allows me to better support their efforts in educating our children.
There are many years of mutual respect and cooperation between myself and other local, state, and national-government leaders which allows me to garner their support for efforts which positively impact Heath.
In addition to the efforts already mentioned, in the next four years, I will continue to work hard to improve upon, foster and grow those things which help make Heath a wonderful place to live, work, worship and play.
When we have new residents move into Heath, I want to help them embrace the great spirit of our community. Getting to know their neighbors, getting involved in helping the little league baseball and softball programs at Hoback Park, coming to community events, and the like.
For our existing residents, we will capitalize on opportunities to expand and improve on the services they receive from the city that provide them safe neighborhoods, clear streets and roads in the winter, and recreational options for themselves and their families.
With another term as your mayor, I will continue to always put the interests of Heath first. Together, we will ensure our future will not change who we are as a community, but our history is that we get stronger and better over time.
