Youngstown Municipal Court - 7 years 2018 to present
I have been a practicing trial attorney since May 12, 1997, until taking the bench in November of 2018. During that time, I represented both plaintiffs and defendants in civil cases, served as criminal defense counsel, was an assistant prosecutor for the city of Youngstown and Mediator for Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. I practiced in over 9 Ohio counties. This allowed me to serve hundreds of clients, determine their needs and assess what could be done to help deter future criminal behaviour. My experience in other courts as well as the above has made me a better judge.
I have accomplished much during my time on the bench, such as enlarging the SLIP Court for those charged with driving under suspension and developing an outreach version for the community called the Steering Clear Clinic. I have the areas first Victim of Human Trafficking Court (GRACE Court) and am in the process of working with state legislatures, the attorney generals office, local government, Mahoning County Mental Health Board, and others on a Mental Health court and county wide initiative. I very much want to continue this work as I see the positive results it has on our community.

I have a life-long record as an active supporter of Democratic values. I am a strong advocate for workers’ rights and social justice. In addition to my professional success as an attorney with a reputation for honesty and integrity, I have supported the community through volunteer service for numerous charitable organizations. I served for 24 years as a prosecutor. My areas of experience include affordable housing, civil rights, constitutional law, labor and employment law, education law, and tax law. As a former Law Director for the City of Youngstown, I know how to make our city better.
Democracy in the United States is at risk based upon fascist and authoritarian officials in our government. I have confidence that we can overcome those forces by electing individuals at all levels of government that will support and enforce our constitutional rights and will stand up for democratic values.
