My first priority in serving the South Range community is to uphold our deep-rooted values while equipping our students for either college or the work force after graduation. My second priority is to do this in a fiscally responsible manner.
For the past 6 years, I've been honored to serve on the South Range Board of Education. This board has worked alongside the administration and staff to accomplish some noteworthy milestones that honor our community values. We modified our school calendar to accommodate the schedules of our students involved in 4H at the county fair. Academically, we have created programs to give students the exposure and training for careers in various trades that are relevant in our community. We have balanced the budget responsibly while ensuring accountability for creating a positive, encouraging, and rigorous learning environment for our students.
Our goal is to continue to develop meaningful programs for students to prepare them for both careers and continuing education after graduation. By utilizing relationships with our State Representatives, we will work to find creative funding sources to help provide high-value training to our students. We want to provide options to give students the ability to enter the workforce from high school, filling high-demand positions in our area with well-paying jobs.
Our students deserve our full attention and continual improvement to best equip them for being both compassionate and productive members of our community and society. This motivates me to work continuously for our community and students.

Ensuring the best education for the students in this district with the resources available while also helping the current Board of Education to understand the importance of transparency and honesty in public office. I want to boost the morale issues that we are currently facing with staff within the district. As a member of the Board of Education, I will listen to everyone who has something to say. The current board appears to simply wait for the public speaking section of the meeting to be over so they can get back to the meeting. I will ensure every concern is answered, if not at the Board Meeting, then as soon after as possible. The taxpayers of South Range deserve no less.
I will only engage in conversation with fellow board members regarding school business, during the monthly board meetings. I would like to minimize the use of Executive sessions, as it is being abused by the current leadership. I will be open, honest & transparent during meetings and will welcome community comments and questions always. I do not believe the non-response policy our current Board and Administration has taken will lead to an honest and cooperative relationship with the citizens of South Range. I will fight to put the Board meetings back online as fear of open meeting lawsuits by the current Board and Administration should not trump the public's right to see what is going on with their school district. I will also strive to limit the outrageous contracts given to the Administration of South Range. There is no justification for the Superintendent and Treasurer contracts to be inline, and in some respects better, than schools such as Canfield and Boardman. And lastly, as a resident of South Range, I will work toward the limitation of open enrollment. While some open enrollment is beneficial towards filling classes and bringing extra revenues, I do not believe 30% or more of our classes should be made up of open enrollment. I strongly believe, however, South Range is a family. Once kids are in our school, they should be allowed to remain. No children should be kicked out as the Board and Administration tried to do this past year.
