There are three candidates running for four open seats. Because this race is uncontested, the candidates were not asked to participate in this Voter Guide.Village Council Responsibilities: Subject to limitations imposed by the State of Ohio, and by village charter (if one exists), adopt and enforce local police sanitary and other similar regulations. Levy taxes and incur debts. Create and/or abolish other offices, departments, divisions, bureaus, boards and commissions of the municipality; fix the number of employees and set pay and benefits for these organizations. Adopt ordinances to provide a number of services including zoning and land use, housing codes, construction of streets, utility lines, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, public utilities. Purchase and dispose of property. Decisions are made by the council as a whole at public meetings.
