Long time resident of Rankin County and Judicial District 3. Owns 2 small businesses in Rankin County.
I possess real courtroom experience in all courtroom levels. I have presented cases to municipal courts all over this state, all the way up to the United States Supreme Court for 22 years. I have experience on all sides of the issues, representing plaintiffs and defendants in civil and criminal matters. I spent 8 years representing the State of Mississippi prosecuting criminal cases while employed at the Attorney General's Office. I have 5 years of representing those accused of wrong doing in my private practice.
In my private practice, I also represent clients navigating family issues such as divorce and custody, as well as some corporate clients and estate matters.
Aside from an above average academic record and real world courtroom experience, I have a healthy dose of common sense which is invaluable for the position of Justice Court Judge.
I believe my entire career has prepared me for the position of Justice Court Judge. I have practiced law for 22 years. Most of that time was devoted to public service as a prosecutor for the State of Mississippi and as an employee of the federal court system where I gained invaluable experience working along side federal judges. I have worked in the private sector for the last 5 years. The position of Justice Court Judge would allow me to return to public service and bring with me vast legal experience and, just as important, common-sense and sound judgment.
The Justice Court system is generally designed so that individuals can represent themselves. It is a court that only hears misdemeanor cases--those cases that involve crimes for which the punishment is jail of the maximum of 1 year or a fine.
Justice Court also hears civil cases where the amount in controversy--the subject of the case, does not exceed $3,500.00.
