I see facilities as a huge obstacle and would like to work to put our students and staff into a better learning environment. I also would like to make more electives available to help our students with more aspects of life that is ahead of them.
I have always worked well with others and listened to what people have to say. I feel listening to others and getting proper information helps make decisions easier. Having strong leadership with people you trust and can work with. We as board members are here to set policy that will help our students and staff today and into the future.
To be honest and as transparent as the state allows. Address them in a timely manner but take the appropriate time to get all sides of what the issue or issues may be.

The biggest challenge is and has been funding, or lack of it from the state. The requirements are expanding and the funding does not keep up. We have just recently entered into an agreement with Waterloo to employ a treasurer that will serve both of our districts to try to control our increasing expenses.
Taking the time to listen to the concerns of the community and still make decisions that will advance all of the students.
As local school board members, we cannot get involved in the growing divide that is happening in our country now. As an elected official, we need to try to address the needs at our schools and stay out of the political views at the federal level.
