When I first stepped into the role of trustee, one of the most pressing concerns I heard from our community was the lack of reliable internet service. Recognizing how vital connectivity is for education, business, and daily life, I took immediate action—making phone calls, attending meetings, and advocating for Freedom Township at the county level. Thanks to those efforts, within a year, Spectrum began installing fiber lines to bring high-speed internet to our area. Looking ahead to the next term, my focus remains on keeping the township running efficiently while making fiscally responsible decisions. We’ve made significant progress, and I am committed to building on that momentum without compromising our financial stability. As always, I consider it a privilege to serve this community. I will continue to listen to your concerns, represent your interests, and ensure that Freedom Township has a strong and respected voice in every conversation that affects our future.
One of the most consistent messages I’ve received—both through conversations and community engagement—is that our residents value Freedom Township’s rural character and want to preserve it. I share that commitment and will continue to actively participate in zoning board meetings to ensure that the voices of our residents are represented and respected in all land use decisions.
Over the past four years, our township has made significant investments to update all road equipment. These purchases were necessary to ensure the safety and efficiency of our road operations. As we move forward, it is fiscally responsible to prioritize paying off these existing loans before considering any new borrowing. This approach will help stabilize our budget and reduce long-term financial strain. A rotational road schedule has been implemented to ensure consistent road repairs and upgrades. This system allows us to maintain infrastructure without overwhelming the budget in any single fiscal year. In the event of budget cuts, all non-essential expenditures will be suspended. Priority will be given to maintaining core services. Snow and ice removal will continue to ensure safe travel for residents. Cemetery Maintenance mowing and upkeep will be preserved out of respect for our community and its history.
