What is the role of the Trustee in the operations of your Township?
Education
I have a Bachelor and Master's degree in Education.
Training & Experience
I taught for 30+ years at Waterloo Local School before retiring, along with serving on various district committees at both the state and local level. I am finishing my first term as an Atwater Township trustee and continue to actively educate myself on the needs of the township.
Volunteer & Community Service
I volunteer with Neighborhood Bridges and The Waterloo Community Helping Hands Committee.
An Atwater Trustee is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the township, managing the township budget in conjunction with the township fiscal officer, and serving as the legislative/governing body of the township. Daily operations include, but are not limited to, road, cemetery, park, and township building maintenance along with the equipment that is needed for that maintenance. Fire and emergency medical services are also important daily operations, along with township zoning. Listening and keeping the township residents informed is an important responsibility of a trustee, while staying updated and implementing various state-mandated responsibilities.
