Two of the most pressing issues I see for the 2026 legislative session are improving education and strengthening economic opportunities in the Mississippi Delta.
1. Education:
1. Our schools continue to face underfunding, teacher shortages, and outdated resources. I would support legislation that increases teacher pay to make salaries competitive with neighboring states, expands funding for classroom resources, and invests in early childhood education programs. We must also prioritize career and technical training so that students graduate with real-world skills that lead to good-paying jobs.
2. Economic Growth & Opportunity:
The Delta deserves the same level of investment and opportunity as other regions of Mississippi. I would propose legislation that provides tax incentives and grant programs for small businesses, supports farmers and agricultural innovation, and improves infrastructure—especially broadband and transportation—to attract new industries.
I imagine a future for Mississippi where every child has access to a quality education, every family can thrive economically, and every community, no matter how small or rural, feels seen, valued, and supported. I see a Mississippi where our young people no longer feel they have to leave to succeed, because opportunity exists here at home.
To help bring us there, I will work to strengthen our schools, expand job and small business opportunities, and push for infrastructure improvements like better roads, broadband access, and public transportation that connect our communities to growth. I’ll also work across party lines and with community leaders to ensure policies reflect the real needs of Mississippians. My vision is about progress rooted in fairness, opportunity, and unity, so that we can rebuild the Delta and Mississippi piece by piece together.
One of Mississippi's biggest challenges is losing so many of our brightest young people after graduation. To encourage college graduates to stay, we must create opportunities that make Mississippi a place where they can see a future for themselves and their families.
I would support legislation that:
• Expands job opportunities by attracting new industries and investing in local small businesses.
• Continue supporting student loan forgiveness programs or repayment incentives for graduates who live and work in Mississippi, especially in critical fields like healthcare, education, and technology.
• Strengthens community life by improving housing, healthcare access, and cultural opportunities so graduates feel proud to build their lives here.
If we give young people both opportunity and quality of life, we won’t just keep them in Mississippi; we’ll empower them to lead the state into a brighter future.
