To attract developers into an area, tax breaks are offered to make one area look more attractive. Groveport and Canal Winchester can offer tax beaks, including breaks in property taxes that go to the township without the township getting a say. Which can lead to the township, including our fire and police, getting no funding or less funding for these developments. This not only puts a strain on our budgets, but it can lead to shifting the burden of paying for these services onto residents. I will work with city leaders to make sure that businesses pay their fair share for our emergency services as the area continues to grow so we have the needed funds to build our police and fire departments to keep our first responders and residents safe.
Public safety has been my main priority. As the township continues to grow, we need to ensure that we are planning ahead and working towards building our fire and police departments to handle that growth. This will include working with city leaders in Canal Winchester and Groveport to make sure new developments are paying their fair share, and continue the work of making smart spending decisions with the funding we have. The township has also worked to find alternative funding solutions, like grant funding, to pay for equipment and training for our first responders. These efforts will continue if I am re-elected to ensure we have a safe community for all residents to reside in.

As stated in my other answers, working together with leaders in Groveport and Canal Winchester so the township can plan ahead and continue to build our fire and police departments to handle the growth.
I have had several public meetings or community hours to discuss issues our community is facing. For instance, the township had several meetings with residents to discuss speeding in our neighborhoods. With their feedback, we installed speed humps and raised intersections in the Blacklick Estates neighborhood.

I have also made myself more available to residents. I often see problems on neighborhood Facebook groups, and will help or find who can help with issues or problems that arise. I have attended many community events throughout my entire term as well.

As Chair, I have opened our meetings up to allow attendees to ask questions, and welcome their feedback.
Not every decision is going to be liked by every resident. But, I always listen to their concerns and will explain my position. Most often times we all have the same end goal, but we have different thoughts on how to get there. But, with listening and working together you can often find the best path forward.
