As I see it, the major challenges in Long Branch are teacher and staff retention, parent involvement, and financial transparency. I hear some staff say they left because of pay. Our district is one of the lower paying districts and we need to have competitive, pay to retain our teachers and staff. You ask where would we get the money from without raising taxes and this is where we need to look into the finances to see where we can divert money from without causing harm to our children's education or extra curriculum activities and keep our taxes to a minimum. Some may not know this, but the State of NJ does allow for school taxes to be raised by up to 2% each year, and for a few years our school taxes were not raised until recently. So now we need to find ways to have better wages for staff, keep the taxes low and to a minimum and still give our children the best education they are entitled to.

Parent involvement is very important to a child's success. Before COVID, we had the schools perform at the board of education meetings and had other events to get parents involved. We still do some of them, but I do believe having the children perform again and adding more parent involved events held by the district as a whole would be beneficial and have the parents feel wanted and part of the district again, especially in the middle and high school years. Many parents on social media say they feel left out and we need them feeling wanted, because they are and they are needed.
I am a parent of children who are still in the district and who have graduated from the district. I have been involved in various ways within the school district. I have been part of the PTA/PTOs, Special Education Parent Advisor Groups, as well as county and state organizations such as CIACC, TRFoDL, and am still part of many of these organizations and others. I have had children in regular education and special education and have taken the time to becoming very familiar with both aspects of education. I bring this personal knowledge with me.

I also bring the professional knowledge of being a small business owner and writer who has published 3 books/novels with one being a children’s book, as well as working in the legal, compliance, and field of law, which calls for team work, leadership and organizational skills, as well as multitasking and being able to see things from many different points of view to ensure my decisions are made with knowledge that is in the best interest of our district and community.
I believe transparency is the key. As a board of education member, parents need to know what is happening financially with their tax dollars and their children's education. Their children are our next leaders and are entitled to an appropriate education that will have them ready for the next phase of their lives when they graduate. We owe it to them and we owe it to ourselves to set them up for success with the right tools (curriculum) from dedicated staff, which we have and are adding to.

I cannot and will not promise anything such as slashing taxes, because in order to do so we need to look at the budget and find out where money can be saved and/or redistributed. Since this would be my first term on the board of education, I can only guarantee you that I will give my all, do my best at leading and hold myself accountable for the decisions I make, because the decisions I make will be in the best interest of the students, staff, parents and community. I would be honored to serve my community as a Long Branch Board of Education member.

Long Branch faces real challenges, from teacher retention and mental health to preparing students for success in a fast-changing world driven by AI and digital tools. We also need to ensure our special education and ESL students are supported and not left behind.

If re-elected, I will continue fighting for programs that give students every possible key to achieve their goals. That means expanding access to career readiness courses, financial and civic literacy, and stronger mental health supports.

I’ll keep advocating for ways to support and retain quality educators through mentorship and leadership opportunities. And I’ll always ask the hard questions when it comes to school safety, curriculum, and budgeting.

My priority is always our students, not politics or pressure. I ask tough questions because every dollar we spend, every policy we pass, should help the students learn, feel safe, and get ready for life after graduation. I’m not afraid to speak up when something doesn’t feel right, and I’ll always choose what’s best for Long Branch over what’s easiest.
As a proud graduate of Long Branch Public Schools, I bring a perspective that few others can offer; someone who’s been in the classroom, faced challenges firsthand, and is now stepping up to help shape the future for the next generation.

Professionally, I’ve served in student leadership at Brookdale Community College, helped host campus-wide town halls, and worked in public service and intelligence internships that gave me insight into operations, budgeting, and communication. I’ve also interned with the NJ Transit Police Intelligence Division, Senator Vin Gopal’s district office, and worked with passengers daily as a customer service representative at our local ferry service. I know how to work under pressure, ask informed questions, and communicate complex issues clearly.

Now, as a current board member for the past year and a graduate student pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration at Rutgers University–Newark, I’m continuing to learn what it takes to govern effectively and responsibly. What sets me apart is my student-first mindset. I ask how every decision impacts those in the classroom. I value listening, showing up, and doing the homework to get it right, not just following the crowd, but thinking critically about what works best for Long Branch students and families.
Parents are essential partners in our schools, and their concerns should always be taken seriously. Whether it's about school safety, classroom content, or district decisions, I believe families deserve honest communication, not confusion.

If re-elected, I will continue being present and approachable not just at board meetings, but in the community, at school events, and in everyday conversations. I may not always have an answer on the spot, but I will always follow up, stay transparent, and treat families with the respect they deserve.

On curriculum, I support a thoughtful and balanced approach. Students should be challenged to think critically and learn real skills that prepare them for life, while parents should feel informed and included in conversations about what’s being taught. This means working together to make sure our schools are places where all kids can learn and grow in a supportive environment.

In the end, our goals are the same: to help students succeed and to make our schools stronger. That only happens when there’s trust, mutual respect, and a commitment to doing what’s best for our kids.
