In "A Lawyer's Creed" a lawyer is charged with offering service, time, and skills to their community. I have always taken that charge close to heart, spending countless hours as a member of boards such as the TPS Foundation, Leadership Toledo, and the Toledo Bar Association, while serving as a Maumee Planning Commissioner and Zoning Appeals Board member. In almost 12 years as an attorney, I spent 4 years clerking in the United States Bankruptcy court for 2 federal judges, where I learned to research, interpret, and draft decisions based on expansive state and federal laws. In 4 years in private practice, I respresented clients (both businesses and invididuals), assisting them through bankruptcies, the probate process, estate planning, and other areas of civil and criminal litigation. I've now spent almost 4 years as an assistant general counsel with The University of Toledo, where I advise my client on state laws, rules, policies, and regulations, which also apply at the K-12 level.
As a proud graduate of public school at each and every stage of my education and as a proud member of the Maumee City Schools' community, I understand the challenges that our public school faces in the near future. When public education is funded by local property taxes and a combination of state and federal funds, and when those funding formulas are in constant flux at the state and federal levels, our local school board needs a board member experienceed at working within those federal, state, and local funding restraints. My highest prority when I am elected is to empower and enable our students and teachers to succeed, and I plan to accomplish that by whenever is necessary, reviewing, revising, and enacting or removing policies that hinder that success. With the uncertain future of property tax funding, my next highest priorty will be to work with the treasurer and superintendent on developing a long-term, conservative financial plan that will allow for future success.

I have been a board member for the Maumee City Schools for 6 terms.
I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in education and am presently teaching as a substitute teacher.
I have past experience in finance as a past Assistant Director of Financial Aid at BGSU.
Presently, I hold the President’s position on the school board and have also held the Vice President ‘s role.
I now sit on the Finance and Curriculum committees for the school board, and have also served on the Policy and Personnel committees for my school district.
In addition, I have been a delegate and the Legislative Liaison for the state association, OSBA.
There are many challenges facing public education but the main points of focus are financial and the quality of education. Maumee Schools teachers, staff and administrators work extremely hard in providing a successful, high quality, well rounded and safe educational experience on a budget.
I will continue to be an advocate for our students and staff.
My motivation to continue to serve on the board is based on my passion to retain high academic standards, remain fiscally responsible but most importantly, provide positive learning experiences that prepare our students for the future.
I promise to continue to work very hard on behalf of our students, both at the local and state levels. Our students are always my top priority!
I will always be available to listen to any of your concerns.
It would be an honor to continue to represent you!
