My family came to New Bern fleeing their home nation which had been overwhelmed by cartel violence and community terror. This community brought us in and allowed us to experience the American Dream. From starting in a tiny apartment on Queen Street to now working as a high school teacher, I know what so many of our local residents feel. I have lived that experience. We need leaders that will show up everyday and fight for our everyday citizens. That is what it is all about.
1) Trent Court: The residents of Trent Court deserve to live in dignity. We need a leader who will champion that cause and make sure that someone stands up for them. 2) Martin Marietta Park: The citizens were promised a beautiful park with a great kids area, a dog park, and an amphitheater. Despite this, our current local leadership has begun advocating ending the development of this park. This park has the potential to be the heart of our community. We need leaders who are willing 3) Updating Our Local Zoning: Zoning needs to be updated. Many local residents have brought up the concerns with traffic. Updating our zoning laws will allow us to better plan and mitigate traffic as our city grows in a smart way.
Before we do anything else, we need to listen to our voters. I plan on hosting regular "office hours" where citizens can stop by and just sit and chat with me about any concerns they may have. Many local residents fell abandoned by our current leaders. By hosting these little meetings will allow me to help our citizens.

Beside that, I have already begun working with local candidates to build consensus on issues that will help all of New Bern. We can't wait months to start discussing these ideas. We need to start working NOW. By bringing our community together, we best serve our community.
