I have almost 30 years of experience in reading, understanding, and working with grants, contracts, and real estate documents. During this time, I have worked with all ages and economic backgrounds. I understand this upcoming election is a job that I am being hired to do by the citizens of New Bern. I care about the entire community and the successful, smart growth of New Bern.
My first priority is to ensure that I remain accessible to the citizens of Ward 4.
My second priority is to work on the public safety issues citizens of Ward 4 have shared with me. I plan to bring viable options to the board to address speeding through neighborhoods and make high-traffic pedestrian crosswalks safer.
My third priority is to work the board to move the City of New Bern municipal elections to a mid-term election cycle (2030). This move will save the city and its citizens money, money we could roll into other areas of our local city.
During the Board of Alderman meeting I will announce the location, date, and time that I will be accessible for citizens to come discuss concerns, offer suggestions, and provide feedback to me on how I am doing as an Alderman. Being accessible to the citizens of New Bern is vital as they are the foundation and the heartbeat of the community. Citizens within each Ward see the day-to-day activity that goes on in their Ward. Making sure I stay connected to them is necessary so I am making the best decisions for them.

My experience as an educator, veteran, and mental health professional has equipped me with the skills to listen, problem-solve, and collaborate effectively. I served in the Air National Guard as a mental health technician, licensed educator, managed a non-profit as an executive director, and now work in the field of social work with a master's degree. These roles have taught me how to lead with empathy, bridge diverse perspectives, and focus on solutions that promote wellness and community connection. I am committed to being a policy maker, not a politician—bringing people together to create practical, forward-looking policies that serve all residents.
Community Connection & Collaboration: Building bridges between residents, businesses, and local government to ensure decisions reflect the needs and voices of our community.
Smart Growth & Infrastructure: Supporting responsible development and maintaining infrastructure that meets the needs of both current residents and future generations.
Wellness & Safety: Promoting policies that strengthen public safety and overall community well-being so all residents can thrive.
My priority is to lead with transparency and collaboration and to create policies that foster unity, opportunity, and long-term strength for our city.
My top priority is strengthening community connection and ensuring residents’ voices are heard in local decision-making. I will work to examine and improve ordinances so they put people before developers, ensuring that growth reflects the needs and values of our neighborhoods. This means promoting transparency, inviting public input, and fostering collaboration between citizens, businesses, and government. By building bridges and not barriers, I will advocate for policies that support responsible development while protecting the character, safety, and well-being of our community.
Our community has shown resilience in weathering storms and hardships, and I believe local policy should reflect that same strength and endurance. By fostering transparency, collaboration, and responsible development, I will help build a city that not only survives challenges, but grows stronger because of them.
