What experiences or skills have prepared you to serve as a board member?
How do you propose to balance the following factors: retention of good teachers, quality of education provided to the students, and the desire of most taxpayers for lower taxes.
What, if any, changes would you like to make to the school district curriculum?
The district had serious financial issues stemming from a prior administration, mismanagement. These are in the process of being corrected but more work is necessary.
We also need to hire a new Superintendent and that will be crucial for the future of the district.
40 years of experience in the school law field and prior board experience.
There is no glib answer to this. Recognizing the balance when specific issues arise is crucial. I place a high priority on quality education and enhancing income through a fair lease on the Chapel Hill School.
The language arts curriculum alone is some 515 pages. I mention this because we should not micromanage the work of the staff who puts together the curriculum . We should, however, revie that work to ensure it is relevant and up to date.
