Mendham Township Committee {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

Mendham Township operates under the township form of New Jersey municipal government. The five-member Township Committee is elected directly by the voters at-large in partisan elections to serve three-year terms of office on a staggered basis, with either one or two seats coming up for election each year as part of the November general election in a three-year cycle. At an annual reorganization meeting held on the first Monday after January 1, the newly reconstituted township committee selects one of its members to serve as mayor, and another to serve as deputy mayor.

The most pressing challenges facing Mendham Township are navigating state affordable housing mandates while preserving our community character and managing long-term fiscal sustainability. These interconnected issues require experienced leadership.

During my first term, I've proven that bipartisan collaboration and data-driven decision-making work. I successfully worked across party lines to address the ash tree crisis, reinstate the Open Space Trust Committee in response to residents' concerns, and help unanimously approve joining the NJ Highlands Council Planning Area—all while keeping taxes stable.

I'll tackle these challenges through transparent community engagement, leveraging my 19 years of nonprofit budget management experience, and applying the collaborative approach that has already delivered results. Running with Clare Hackney, whose engineering and development expertise complements my municipal experience, we'll ensure smart planning solutions that protect our historic charm while meeting legal obligations.
In my first term, including a year as the first Democratic Deputy Mayor, I have been proud to deliver effective municipal leadership with bipartisan cooperation and data-driven solutions to complex challenges.

My nonprofit experience managing service-oriented budgets directly translates to municipal fiscal responsibility. I understand how to prioritize community needs, find creative funding solutions, and ensure every tax dollar serves residents effectively. As Township Committee Liaison for First Aid, Library, Recreation, and Schools, I've maintained strong partnerships across all our essential services.

As a deeply engaged community member—PTO Treasurer, active volunteer, and parent of two children in our schools—I understand residents' daily concerns and priorities. Municipal leadership requires both professional expertise and authentic community connection.
Mendham Township's economic vitality is built on maintaining the high quality of life and property values that make our community desirable. As a primarily residential township, our economic health depends on sound fiscal management, excellent services, and preserving the rural character that attracts families to call Mendham Township home.

My service on the Township committee has been dedicated to maintaining competitive property tax rates while fully funding essential services like schools, public safety, and infrastructure. Strong property values benefit every resident.

I'll continue ensuring smart investments in roads, utilities, and public facilities that maintain our community's desirability for current and future residents. My nonprofit management experience has taught me how to maximize limited resources while serving stakeholder needs—exactly what municipal budget management requires.

By preserving our open spaces, maintaining excellent schools, and providing reliable municipal services through transparent, experienced leadership, we protect the fundamental assets that drive Mendham Township's economic strength: our reputation as an exceptional place to live.
While immigration policy is primarily determined at federal and state levels, my focus as a township leader is ensuring all residents feel welcome and safe in our community. Mendham Township's strength comes from neighbors helping neighbors, regardless of background.

My role is providing effective local government services—quality infrastructure, public safety, and community programs—for everyone who calls Mendham Township home. I am firmly committed to maintaining our community's tradition of inclusivity and mutual respect. I believe in the collaborative governance I've already demonstrated, bringing people together and focusing on the municipal issues I can directly control and improve.
This balance requires the kind of long-term, experienced planning I've demonstrated through my commitment to the environment during my first term. I helped address the ash tree crisis, supported reinstating the Open Space Trust Committee, and helped maintain our NJ Highlands Council commitment. Environmental stewardship and smart infrastructure aren't competing priorities—they're complementary when managed with experience and community input.

I'll continue prioritizing environmental protection through proper planning, strategic infrastructure investment, and transparent community engagement. For required affordable housing development, I'll leverage my collaborative approach and the professional expertise Clare brings to our ticket to ensure projects meet legal obligations while minimizing environmental impact. We'll prioritize locations that utilize existing infrastructure capacity, protect watershed areas, and preserve our most critical open spaces through the same data-driven, community-focused approach that has already proven successful.
