Biographical Information

What are your priorities to address the impact on Virginia of the dramatic changes to the Federal Budget and the decrease of Virginia’s tax base due to the loss of Federal employment?

Do you support legislation allowing Virginia to adopt the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (would ensure that every Virginia vote for President is equal to those votes from every other state and DC, while also guaranteeing that the candidate who receives the most votes nationwide wins the Presidency)?

If elected, what will be your top priorities for Virginia?

In spite of Federal cuts, the Virginia economy is resilient. Virginia has a "rainy day" fund of about $5 billion. In addition there are over 246,000 open jobs available, with about 100,000 of them in Northern Virginia.
Our Founding Fathers created a unique system called the Electoral College as a compromise. Each state gets a certain number of electoral votes based on how many members it has in the House and Senate. It’s pretty straightforward.

One major benefit of the Electoral College is that it gives both large and small states a fair voice in choosing the president. Since every state gets two Senators, small states still have power. Without the Electoral College, candidates might only focus on large states like Florida or Texas, ignoring smaller ones like Iowa or Delaware.

Basically, without the Electoral College, a few major cities could end up deciding the whole election. This would mean rural Americans might not have their voices heard.
