WASHINGTON COUNTY Board of Supervisors Member - DISTRICT G

The Washington County Board of Supervisors consists of 7 representatives, one from each magisterial district of the county. The Board of Supervisors approves the annual budget for the county, approves county ordinances, and approves zoning requests among its many duties. There are three supervisor seats on the ballot this election. In two years, the other 4 seats will be up for election. Each Supervisor is elected to a 4 year term.

What programs would you strengthen or establish to help Washington County grow job opportunities for high school graduates?

The recent property tax value increase/rate decrease was a shock to many homeowners. Housing values continue to rise, and affordable workforce housing availability remains limited. Availability of affordable housing can effect where businesses locate, but recent population projections show a slightly declining population over the next 25 years in the county. What long and short range steps can the county take to manage these housing dynamics?

There have been recent efforts to increase power generation in Southwest Virginia, including solar farms and potentially Small Modular Nuclear reactors. What position should the county take on development of this sector in Washington County.
