My job experience is as a current Monclova Trustee. It takes time to learn how townships function as well as the role of a trustee. Time - nearly 4 years - has been my great teacher. The steep learning curve is behind me, allowing me to focus on Twp challenges. I also serve as the Trustee liaison for the Monclova Historical Foundation. I'm involved in the effective management of fire and maintenance needs.
I'm a business woman with a wide variety of experiences. For 40 years, I’ve worked at Yoder Machinery where I have handled employee management, budgets, deadlines, insurances, government compliance, and accounting ~ to name a few. Sometimes these areas are in flux, but I have kept up with the current changes. The running of Monclova Twp deals with these same business issues. Therefore, my skills at Yoder Machinery transfer well to my job as trustee.
Besides my day job, I hold a real estate license. My husband and I also own and manage rental properties around NW Ohio.
The duties of a township trustee are specific: maintain township roads, care properly for cemeteries as well as provide emergency services. Also, we are responsible for how the township’s finances (taxes) are handled. About 11% of our Monclova property taxes go to the Township. Thus, trustees must account for the “where, why, who, what, and how” tax monies are spent. Fiscal responsibility is my priority!
Monclova Twp has significant projects I desire to see completed:
1. Upgrade our fire facilities – approved and in process
2. Park and Playground improvements – budgeted for 2026
3. "Downtown Monclova" – sewer complete, in planning stages
4. Connectivity Plan (making routes easily accessible and safer) – meeting with TMACOG to identify Priority Corridors
5. Ongoing relationships: Monclova working with the JEDD (Joint Economic Development District) and JEDZ (Joint Economic Development Zones) partnerships.
Careful planning is necessary for the future oversite of Monclova Twp.
