Virginia House of Delegates Member-District 10
The Virginia House of Delegates is one of two parts in the Virginia General Assembly, the other being the Senate of Virginia. The House is presided over by the Speaker of the House, who is elected from among the House membership by the Delegates. It has 100 members elected to two year terms. What are your priorities to address the impact on Virginia of the dramatic changes to the Federal Budget and the decrease of Virginia’s tax base due to the loss of Federal employment?
Do you support legislation allowing Virginia to adopt the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (would ensure that every Virginia vote for President is equal to those votes from every other state and DC, while also guaranteeing that the candidate who receives the most votes nationwide wins the Presidency)?

Biography
Dan Helmer, West Point grad, Iraq/Afghanistan veteran, Lt. Colonel, Rhodes Scholar, and small business owner, brings service and leadership to Virginia’s House, fighting for democracy and putting country and community first.
The dramatic changes to the federal budget and workforce will have serious consequences for Virginia’s families, economy, and budget. My priorities are to address exactly what the House’s Emergency Committee has identified: protecting workers and families affected by federal cuts, safeguarding essential services that Virginians rely on, maintaining a balanced and structurally sound budget, and strengthening our economy so it is more resilient to future federal reductions.

As Delegate, I’ve made it my mission to defend our democracy, expand opportunity through education and good jobs, keep our communities safe, and protect the rights of every Virginian. If elected, I will fight to pass and get to the people Constitutional Amendments to protect reproductive rights, voting rights, and the ability of loving Virginians to marry.
