I’ll focus on delivering results for families and residents today while planning responsibly for the future. I will prioritize creating a strategic plan with goals and measurable outcomes. I’ll tackle improving permitting and licensing processes for residents and small businesses, saving them time and money. I’m dedicated to fully supporting local businesses and revitalizing downtown. Long-term, I’m committed to a comprehensive review of our City and Transportation Master Plans to reflect the needs of a growing, thriving Provo. I’ll work to unite our city through neighborhood collaboration, community events, and open dialogue. I have a strong record of hard work, transparency, responsiveness, and finding win-win solutions to tough issues.
I support thoughtful zoning tailored to each neighborhood to make life easier and more affordable for families. We must improve permitting processes to reduce delays and costs, making housing more affordable to build and maintain. I’ll work to increase student housing south of BYU to protect family neighborhoods, preserve long-term community stability, and decrease prices. I’ll refocus a portion of existing resources to help educate renters, homeowners, and landlords, and help residents apply for property tax relief. I’ll be careful with our budget so that we can keep taxes and fees low. The best solutions come from proactively listening to residents and working with neighborhoods, planners, the City Council, and other stakeholders,
Provo is growing and we must plan wisely to preserve what we love about our city. I’ll lead a full review of our City and Transportation Master Plans to protect open spaces and strengthen neighborhoods. I’ll prioritize parks and greenspace in every community and ensure new development is planned responsibly and makes sense. Road expansions must be thoughtfully planned to avoid disrupting neighborhoods, and I’ll improve walking and bike trails so people can enjoy our city safely. As a legislator, I helped protect farmland through voluntary conservation easements. As mayor, I’ll support farmers who want to preserve their land. Responsible growth can welcome new families and businesses without losing Provo’s rural character and natural beauty.
I love tackling tough problems and have a proven record of bringing people together to find solutions. As a legislator, I worked with agencies, non-profits, schools, advocates, and constituents to build consensus and deliver results. I helped bring UTA On Demand to West Provo, an area with no public transit, by collaborating with UTA. I’m excited to use my unique experience and education to serve the community I love. As I tell my math students, there’s more than one way to solve a problem. When we work together, we find the best way forward. I’ll prioritize strong collaboration with residents, the county, neighboring cities, and state partners to tackle regional issues like homelessness, traffic, and crime with shared, long-term solutions.
A sustainable future means a strong economy, reliable infrastructure, affordability, and thriving neighborhoods. It also means a balanced budget that uses resources wisely and keeps taxes and fees low. That takes vision and planning; it doesn’t just happen. With input from residents, staff, and the city council, we’ll build a strategic plan with clear goals and measurable outcomes to guide our work and ensure accountability. This plan will include preserving green spaces, promoting water-wise landscaping, and creating community gathering areas. Finally, we’ll strengthen our community by improving communication and hosting fun, citywide events that help neighbors connect and build a thriving, united Provo.
