Personal Biography Shawnee has always been home. I grew up here, live here, and work here. I married my amazing husband, Michael, two years ago and we bought our first house here. Service runs in the family: my dad and grandfather served Shawnee as city prosecutor and city attorney for many years. Another grandfather, Tony Soetaert, was one of Shawnee’s longest-serving mayors.
Education B.S. Cellular Biology from University of Kansas

1. Smart Development. Supporting responsible growth that protects our neighborhoods and invests in our future. Making smart decisions that make sense and create projects that are built in ways that enhance the community.

2. An investment in infrastructure - crumbling CMP in the city is a top priority - allocating excess funds here and making efficient, smart decisions is key.

3. Maintaining our excellent fiscal responsibility. We have a very efficient city staff that does an amazing job of remaining fiscally responsible with budget and projects. The city does a great job currently of balancing: we've got one of the lowest mill taxes in the county and still find ways to invest in important city programs.
I think the number one responsibility of a council member is to make smart well-reasoned decisions that benefit the majority of their citizens. I am thoughtful, smart, and always take the time to research decisions before making them.
City Council members represent the people of the city. There can be no effective local government if the people don't have an investment in it. And that investment is in the form of the people they elect to make decisions for them. I don't believe there is a more important position in local government than the one that is trusted to make decisions big and small that affect the city on behalf of the people.
