Lenexa Fire Station HQ
The city is expecting to build a new Fire Station in the previous city hall hall off 87th St. Lenexa will be better served by this location and we will want to make sure it is in keeping with our community.
Continued CIP (Capital Improvement Program) initiatives. Core infrastructure that our city maintains through the CIP continues to need to be evaluated to ensure even the 'invisible' infrastructure is a priority.
I worked full time during both my undergraduate and graduate programs, so I know what it means to work hard and remain committed to priorities.
At Michigan State I was in our student government and helped pass key legislation to protect safety and security of students. At the University of Kansas I created and lead a coalition to ensure my cohorts and I had a seat at the table from key issues the administration was facing.
I have been in the engineering, design, and construction business for over a decade. So I understand what to look for in technical designs and their respective construction contracts. I've held numerous leadership roles - many of which allowed me to apply my finance education to lead multi-million dollar businesses.
Being a city council member in Lenexa is important for having representation in our local democracy. First and foremost I am focused on the interests of Lenexa Ward 3 - at times my votes will affect all of Lenexa so it is important for City Council Members to connect and understand issues and goals for all of Lenexa.
It is important to recognize that City Council has the purview of legislating for the city - but it is also the team that drives accountability to city management. Lenexa city management has been doing an excellent job at executing the vision of the people. It is important that city council members have strong relationships with city management while also still remaining committed first to the people.

I believe my 24 years of naval service leading men and woman in combat and in maritime prepared me well to communicate effectively with others and provided a very broad base of exceptionally difficult situations to work through and learn from. I have been married for 35 years to my wonderful wife, and I certainly feel I bring a commitment to my public work that is reflected in my career in the Navy and as a husband and father. I also have the experience of being a former Lenexa city councilmember in Ward 3 from, 2017 through 2021. Four years of experience with the budget, capitol improvement projects, stormwater infrastructure and public safety issues. I will not need a Council member orientation, I will be ready to go on day one!
