My vision for USD231 will be one of the highly regarded school districts in Johnson County for improving quality education for all students. USD 231 will hire and retain highly qualified general education teachers as well as special education teachers. Open communication will be established in which grievances will be heard and used as valuable input for the future growth of USD231. Communication within all levels is key to a successful educational community. Whether positive, negative, or indifferent, reach out to every student and make a difference to all.
Quality education begins with highly qualified educators and personnel at all levels of education. With the diversity of students within the district, inclusion of all neurotypical and neurodiverse students must be equal. Every student deserves to learn. It is how we approach their learning that we can guide their success. Students are individuals, not numbers or statistics.
I have held many leadership roles in the field of disabilities as I worked alongside the KS Disability Rights Council (DRC) and KS legislature on Bill HB 244-Grades K-12; use of seclusion and restraint of students with disabilities to change how seclusion and restraint is handled in K-12 students with disabilities. Along with this, the twins are highly active in Special Olympics and Camp Encourage. I believe with my years of experience; I am a voice for current and future students in USD231.
Open communication will be established in which grievances will be heard and used as valuable input for the future growth of USD231. Communication within all levels is key to a successful educational community. Whether positive, negative, or indifferent, reach out to every student and make a difference to all.
