Personal Biography
I am a lifelong Wichita girl and a lifelong Wichita Public Schools girl. I was born at Wesley Hospital, raised in West Wichita and now live with my husband in East Wichita. Similarly, I attended McCollom Elementary, Hadley Junior High, West High School and worked for Wichita Public Schools in the Facilities Division for 28.5 years. I am loyal and committed serving for ALL KIDS and advocating for Public Education, our teachers and our employees.
Education
I have a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Kansas State University (I am a licensed architect in the State of Kansas) and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Wichita State University. Beyond that, I am a lifelong learner.
Community/Public Service
I have been involved in community, church, school and public service my entire life. From teaching, serving and working in churches to teaching, serving and working in schools to serving on boards for the City of Wichita, Grace Med, Legacy Ministries and Wichita Public Schools. Other than the addition of family and friends, this is what I do. My Christian faith motivates me to seek to be a servant and to impact the world in a positive way.
Continue work on future ready success for kids by increasing graduation rates, increasing reading skills and providing job skill assets for students.
Continue advocating for adequate funding from the state so ALL students can have an adequate educational opportunity.
Continue to work to communicate with the public regarding facility needs toward the final result of a bond issue for facility improvements.
With being the longest serving member on the Board plus my almost three decades of employment in the District, I hold institutional knowledge which is invaluable for the Board and the District.
My many years of experience in operations (facilities) at WPS is helpful to other Board members as we tackle difficult issues.
My quiet, kind, peace-keeping spirit helps with challenging relational situations.
