I graduated High School from Norcator Kansas where I participated in many extracurricular activities. I spent 11 years in the Nuclear Navy Submarine Force. I taught engineering courses to both enlisted and officer personnel. After leaving service I worked as an electrical engineer and was an engineering manager at KSO. I have been married for 58 years and have been on the board of education in excess of 20 years. I have two grandchildren currently enrolled in Galway and two sons and a grandson who graduated from Galway. I believe all students should be treated equally with respect and dignity. We as a board of education have the responsibility to provide quality education of our students at a reasonable cost to the district.
I have served on the BOE for multiple terms and want to continue to be a part of the team that provides a quality education to all students at a reasonable price to the tax payer. I enjoy watching the students graduate and come back and settle in our district. We need to ensure we teach our students HOW TO THINK, NOT WHAT TO THINK.
My number one concern is the state and federal government continuing to provide adequate funding to our school district. Mandate for electric school buses.

My number one priority is the students. All other constituencies are part of the team so all of there input should be evaluated. Parent input is very important and everyone should be treated with dignity and respect.
We all need to remember we are all here to provide the students with a great learning experience.
Volunteering within our community is important to me and something I truly enjoy. I have valued being a member of Galway's Board of Education since October 2024, when I filled a vacancy that is up for reelection on May 20. I have also served as a board member on the Friends of the Galway Public Library from November 2014 through October 2022, including in the role of Vice President.

I work as an occupational therapist in the homecare setting. I love my job, getting to work with people to maintain their independence and enabling them to enjoy things that are important to them.

I have lived in Galway for the past 19 years with my husband Mike and our two sons, Clark and Will. Clark graduated from Galway last year and Will is a sophomore.
I have very much enjoyed my time on the board and would love the opportunity to continue working with my fellow board members to support our district, the students and community members. Having been on the board, I am familiar with the time requirements associated and am prepared commit to future responsibilities.
My primary concern is to ensure a strong district that offers opportunities for students to develop skills and strengths that will allow them to grow into happy, fulfilled individuals. A district that our community can stand behind and feel proud of. Transparency and effective communication are essential values that I will continue to promote.

I strongly agree that all constituencies are equally important. Each faction plays a unique, important role and contributes valuable opinions and perspectives.
Being a board member is a responsibility that I do not and will not take lightly. I am committed to working to build positive, productive relationships to achieve outcomes that all members of our community and school can feel proud of.
I was a teacher for 37 years. During that time I served on various committees at the NYS Education Department as well as with NYSUT, the state teachers' union. Upon retiring I ran for the Galway School Board where I have served for 2 terms. I have served on the policy committee, the finance committee, attended workshops and trainings held by NYSSBA, New York State School Boards Association, and have participated in prospective employee interviews.
My children were educated in and graduated from the Galway School system. We are very happy with the education they received. With my background in education and now that I am retired and have more time, I feel that being on the school board is a way that I can give back to our community.
My #1 concern is providing our students with the best possible education and school related experiences that we can offer. They must be prepared to go forward into higher education, job training, military experience or the world of work upon graduation and that is reliant on all experiences from PK-12. While doing this we must be mindful of our parents and community members and the cost to all taxpayers. With so many changes happening on the state and federal levels, I believe it is important to participate and have our voice heard where appropriate and to be sure that we are in compliance with all new procedures.

Our school staff are part of a team. All members of the team are important in making our schools a clean, safe and welcoming environment where students are learning, and staff are happy to be there. Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect and encouraged to be their best self. When problems arise, all appropriate voices should be involved in finding and implementing solutions. When there is a positive environment, students tend to do better and have a better experience. Ultimately, our focus should be on what is best for the kids.
I have learned a lot in my time on the school board. I feel that I have more to contribute to our wonderful schools and would like to continue serving our community.

-Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University. -3 years Field Engineer working power generating plants across the US. -14 years GE Research: Designing and Data analysis. Large corporation bureaucracy. -Worked for my father's small business from 13 years old - 22 years old: Working on British sports and race cars. *A mix of tiny businesses to massive businesses, working with all manner of different people from the gamut of cultures in this country.

-Coaching softball for Galway Baseball Softball League. 2 years head, many years helping.
I'm motivated by having two children in the schools, a sense of civic duty as enshrined by the foundational principles of American governance by the founders, and my experience with GE where continuous improvement to systems allows us to maximize our resources as we invent the future, which I hope to bring to our district. I expect to step back from head coaching in order to ensure time availability for board activities. I have a very flexible work schedule.
I didn't approach running for the Board based on concerns, but a desire to bring fresh perspective, external experience, and skillset. I know a common thread of concern has been with communication, transparency, and honesty. These are core values where I work, and I believe I've demonstrated these while coaching softball as well. Building relationships and a team culture are natural tendencies for me, as I also prefer to work in a good environment. When we remove ego and toxicity, people give their best- philosophically speaking.

I view 4 of these as 1 entity, like a car. We need all the parts working well, and together, in order to drive into the future. They are all vital to the operation. These would be all the staff. The destination is delivering education and development to the students. The community/ tax payers are the fuel, and we have the responsibility to take an efficient route, and weighing maintenance and upgrades with scrutiny and care. All while keeping the destination in focus. Sorry, no Galway Bugatti, but something reliable, clean, sure footed, and drives like it's a million dollars while being an affordable model.
American Core Values run deep within me. I believe truly every human is born with natural rights, being Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness. 1 of the main 3 roles of government are to protect and guarantee those rights, for all. These will be the ultimate values underpinning my decisions when there are no good answers. I believe in working with teams as my best designs at work happen when I collaborate with others, as ideas spark ideas. Consider how many people it takes to bring ideas into reality for all the things that are around us. I don't have all the answers, but I tenaciously seek them. I learn fast, and have a low tolerance for thorns in a process that weigh people down, reducing their buffer to handling larger problems.
