My six years as an educator have given me valuable knowledge about school operations and the multitude of factors that lead to educational success. I apply an equity-focused perspective to all decisions while distributing resources according to each student's specific requirements.
I offer a profound commitment to our mission alongside open-minded thinking and absolute reliability. I focus on developing community relationships and working together with teachers' unions, teachers, and community members. My dedication to quality education for every student drives my decision-making process and the implementation of policies that benefit students along with their families and communities.
School districts serve as essential bodies for maintaining educational guidelines established by federal and state governments. Districts must adhere to these educational regulations because they form the foundation of a fair learning environment accessible to every student including those who have disabilities. School districts achieve excellent educational standards for all students and maintain legal compliance by fully implementing both, Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
I will initiate my approach to our district's current challenges by conducting a detailed assessment of the primary issues we need to tackle. My engagement with community members along with families and students will focus on collecting their essential feedback. I will use this information to create a powerful School Improvement Plan which will target areas needing urgent action. I plan to organize a meeting with my board colleagues to create policies that ensure a secure school environment and support our students' families and their well-being. Together, we will drive meaningful change.

I have lived and worked in Rainier since 1978. My children attended and graduated in the Rainier School District. My General Dental Practice was in Rainier. I have been married to my wife, Susan Goodrich for 50 years. For three years in Mexico, my wife and I supervised young adult missionaries, most of whom were Mexican. I served in the United States Army Dental Corps in South Carolina, South Korea, and Washington State from 1975 to 1978.
I understand that the District is obligated to comply with federal and state education policies.
I would need to learn fully the issues facing the District before stating how I would address them. However, I would listen to and weigh carefully the concerns and suggestions of the parents of the students, the students themselves and other local citizens.
