I have 4 years of experience on this board. I am a career educator with classroom experience and a parent to elementary children. My Masters in Education is in Policy and Leadership. I am passionate and dedicated to supporting MSD staff and students to help them thrive and learn. I am deeply committed to advocating for public education at multiple levels. I bring decisiveness, confidence, and a collaborative spirit to working with fellow board members.
MSD complies with all state and federal policies and laws. Our superintendent, finance director, and all other district office directors are knowledgeable in the laws and reporting.
State laws dictate much of what a school district does and how it allocates funds. Most of our school funding in Oregon comes from the state school fund and state grants like CTE, early literacy, high school success. Our programs must match those grant requirements.
Federal law around titles and IDEA are also very important to provide equitable inclusive services to all students.
Student learning is my top priority. To support academic achievement, schools must not only uphold high academic standards but also provide instruction in social and emotional regulation. A positive work culture, ongoing professional development, and access to essential materials and curriculum are critical for teachers, administrators, and staff to effectively support students.
However, adequate funding remains the most pressing issue. Without sufficient resources, schools cannot fully meet the diverse needs of students or equip educators with the tools necessary for success. Investing in education is essential to building strong schools and bright futures for all students
