I retired from a 40-year career in public education to Rockaway Beach in March of 2020. My career spanned the gamut, from substitute teacher, full time elementary school teacher to administrator at the K12 level. After earning my Doctorate in Education, I moved to the University side where I was an associate professor of education, and a grant administrator. I capped my career as the Dean of a satellite campus for California State University, Bakersfield. I was appointed to the Neah-Kah-Nie school board in September of 2024 and am grateful for the chance to learn about the district, and support its teachers, administrators and students. I take my service to the district seriously and am committed to furthering its goals.
As a board member I take the District's obligation to comply with federal and state educational policies seriously. I need to balance the needs of the District as well. I will work with the other board members to make sure this happens.
Through dialog and team work. I believe it is important for me as a school board member to work on solutions that benefit the district as a whole. It is why I am supporting the Levy the district has on the ballot. It is the most important issue at this time. With timber funds diminishing the district needs a solution that will protect staff and programs as it responds to this new funding reality.
