What skills and experience do you bring to school board service?

What is your understanding of the District’s obligations to comply with federal and state education policies?

How would you address the issues facing the District’s schools that you consider the most urgent?

As a dedicated and solutions-oriented leader in education, I am committed to fostering cohesiveness, openness, and teamwork within the school board. Skilled in planning, organizing, and executing projects, I excel at developing inclusive strategies that address diverse student needs while ensuring transparency and accountability. As a collaborative problem solver, I engage with stakeholders to drive collective success. With a comprehensive understanding of the educational system—including budgets, policies, supports, and negotiations—I will uphold the highest standards of governance by asking critical questions and making informed decisions that align with school policies, OAR, and ORS to best serve our students, educators, and community.
Oregon grants local school districts significant decision-making authority; however, they must comply with all state and federal education policies. This includes adhering to Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR), Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS), and Division 22 Standards, which set essential instructional and operational requirements to ensure a baseline level of service for all students. Additionally, federal laws like the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Title IX mandate equitable access and prohibit discrimination. As a board member, I am committed to making informed decisions that align with these regulations, ensuring transparency and accountability to best serve our students, educators, and community.
Two of the district’s most urgent challenges are student safety and high staff turnover. As a board member, I will advocate for safety protocols that comply with board policies, Oregon Administrative Rules, and Oregon Revised Statutes, ensuring they are regularly reviewed and transparently communicated to the community. I will strongly encourage comprehensive training for students, staff, and the community to effectively address bullying, discrimination, and foster inclusivity. To reduce staff turnover, I will prioritize identifying root causes, strengthening support systems, and implementing targeted retention strategies. A stable, supported workforce is essential to ensuring both student success and a safe learning environment.
