As a dedicated 19+ year resident of Hood River, my commitment to this community runs deep, evidenced by my four-year term on the Hood River Parks & Recreation Board. This experience provided me with firsthand understanding of local governance, the importance of public spaces, and the need for collaborative decision-making to serve diverse community needs – skills directly transferable to the Port Commission.

My four years as a Commercial Property Manager equipped me with a strong understanding of commercial lease agreements, property management, and the economic realities faced by both landlords and tenants. This insight will be invaluable in overseeing Port-owned properties and making sound strategic decisions.
I'll work towards continuing the good work the current commission has undertaken, furthering public transparency but extending that to foster better understanding of the Ports function. Recognizing the Port's significant position as a major commercial and industrial landholder, I am committed to guiding it towards becoming an even stronger engine for economic development. This requires a shift towards more holistic and longer-term strategic property decisions. As Commissioner, I will foster a collaborative environment to develop a clear vision for the highest and best use of Port lands, considering not just immediate gains but also the long-term needs of our community and the attraction of diverse, sustainable industries.
It's a complicated question, but essential to understand: sustaining world-class recreation requires funding. A healthy commercial and industrial sector will provide the economic base necessary to maintain and enhance our recreational offerings.
