County Hood River
Term Four Years
Term Expires June 2029
Over 10-years on HRCSD budget, financial, facilities committees and 5-years on school board. Over 20-years resident, kids attended and graduated HRCSD. NOTE!: I would welcome someone to run for my position in the future! But please inform yourself! I suggest attending at least a few Board meetings and the monthly public budget / finance meetings. Both of these are available via phone or on-line as well.
We're committed to compliance with state and federal policies - we are frequently in the upper percentile of district compliance.
The most urgent issue is our budget - as is for most if not all districts in Oregon. This is a long running problem in Oregon. Over 10-years ago the Oregon governor at that time developed the "Quality Education Model" (QEM) - which is nice but in NO year has the governor and legislators funded Oregon schools at the QEM level. Note that the QEM funding level would make us comparable to many other states - it is not a radically high level of funding.
