Klamath County Emergency Communication District Director Zone 2
Special districts in Oregon are formed to provide specific local government needs. They are created by a vote of the people in the local area being served. Examples include people’s utility districts, library districts, water districts, fire protection districts, and more. They are governed by a board of directors, which is responsible for management and financial accountability. Special districts are empowered to levy any necessary taxes and fees to fulfill their mandate. Board members are not paid but may receive a per diem reimbursement.Emergency communications manage the budgets for 911 and other communications hubs for first responders.Term: 4 years

Over 40 years dealing with and collaborating with Klamath County 911. Chairman of the Klamath County Interoperable Communications Group. Chairman of the Klamath County 911 User Board. Served on the executive board before 911 became a district. This was the original group that formed 911 in Klamath County.
As a prior Fire Chief, I have a long history of managing public funds and possess a good working knowledge of Oregon Budget Law. I believe that 911 needs to be well funded to complete their mission and it is the boards requirement to ensure that those funds are expended appropriately to fulfill the district's mission to provide service to the public and first responders.
As a public entity, all meetings are open to the public and the agency website should also provide useful information. I would also participate in public events to provide information and answer questions as opportunities present themselves. I would also encourage the staff to reach out whenever possible at public events so that people can understand how their funding is being used to service their needs.
