I’m running for school board because I care deeply about Corbett—this place, this community, and our schools. As a parent with two kids in the district, I’ve seen how vital strong public schools are for students, families, and the community. I bring over 15 years of experience as an educator at PSU and more than two decades of leadership in budgeting, planning, and community engagement. I’ve also spent years volunteering in classrooms and coaching youth sports. These hands-on experiences give me a grounded understanding of our district’s needs. I’m ready to bring steady leadership, transparency, and a collaborative approach to help Corbett schools thrive.
The District has a legal and ethical obligation to comply with all applicable federal and state education policies. These policies are in place to ensure that students receive equitable, safe, and high-quality educational opportunities. Compliance is essential not only for upholding students’ rights, but also for maintaining access to critical funding and support. As a board member, I would take these responsibilities seriously and work to ensure the district meets or exceeds all requirements.
The Corbett School District faces two urgent challenges: financial instability and rebuilding community trust. Years of mismanagement led to a $2 million emergency loan, staff layoffs, and service cuts. I’ll prioritize transparent oversight, clear budget planning, and authentic community engagement to restore stability. We must also rebuild a sense of belonging and shared purpose across students, families, and staff. I’m committed to listening, lifting up diverse voices, and working together to move forward. Addressing these issues lays the groundwork to improve facilities, expand learning opportunities, and ensure our staff are fully supported.
