I moved to Portland in 2021 I have been working for REAP Inc a Multicultural Youth Leadership Development Organization which has informed my worldview regarding what Adocacy for Student Voice looks like. I have worked in classrooms and engaged with students, staff, admin, and parents/guardians/caregivers within MESD, DDSD, CSD, PPS, VSD, BSD, TTSD, and NCSD. In addition, in 2022 my wife and I formed a Nonprofit The BIPOC Rise Moor Healing Center a Multicultural Community Leadership Development Organization which is designed to uplift fallen humanity and teach those things necessary to make us better citizens. I am also an Associate Director of Fund Execs Venture Club where I have actively secured various global youth-centered partnerships.
What I understand is through our Strategic Plan and the United States Codes (U.S.C.) we are responsible for creating a safe and informed learning environment. The specific policies I do not have memorized, although I fully comprehend the essence of what is needed to cultivate successful families and students in our district. Furthermore, I believe our obligations in our Fiduciary role in public service deserve to be expounded upon to do right by the educational development of all students.
It is paramount to prioritize listening to the teachers, students, caregivers/parents, and admin concerns as we are one community, and if we don't have the same objectives then we need to reexamine our approaches. We need to make time for our community to interact with one another in settings other than informal settings or board meetings. We should foster an environment that emphasizes mutual respect amongst all parties as we truly are all we have. This means there are no big I's and little you's. In closing, my method of addressing the issues facing the District's schools is exercising authenticity, advocating for the development of urban farmers markets for revenue generation for our schools, and embracing a holistic lens.

District funding is tied to compliance with federal and state education policies. Also a key factor with regard to policies is student well-being. I am most concerned with the potential for federal education policies being in conflict with state policies or student well-being. I will always place student well-being as the top priority.
One of the top issues facing the district is uncertainty when it comes to federal funding and federal policy. Another key issue is school attendance and equitable access to high quality academics.
Recognizing that my personal experiences are not necessarily the same as every other family in the district, I would like to hold outreach events throughout the district boundaries to listen to the needs, concerns, and priorities of families in the district.
