The responsibilities of the office of Council that I am striving to occupy include but are not limited to, is that of a legislative body enacting ordinances that govern the city of Elyria. Council establishes policies on matters that may include zoning, general planning for the City of Elyria. The office of Council also has the responsibility of overseeing the city's financial matters, such as the development of appropriations, and imposing taxes. The office of Council is to represent the community-wide interests of the city, and not that of special interest groups, and constitutes a quorum for business meetings. The office of council has many committees that are instrumental in addressing various aspects of city operation.
Serving in the U.S. Armed Forces has equipped me to present a leadership quality that I desire to bring to the office of Council at Large. I was fortunate to oversee the development of Soldiers, which is an attribute that I will bring to Council for team development. I possess an attribute of negotiating which I believe will become an asset for compelling entities to considering developing and investing in the citizens and the City of Elyria, with innovation, job creation, and economic growth, that would become a win-win for all Elyria. I would be humbled to share a great deal of other gifts and talents to support the office of Council at Large, serving in the City of Elyria.
By chance I am successful through the primary election. My top 3 priorities will include but not limited to:
(3) Youth-Friendly Community Development and Life Skills Education for Youth: Designing spaces and programs that encourage youth involvement and community engagement. Empowering young adults through education and skill-building initiatives.
(2) Enhancing Support to First Responders: Providing first responders with the tools and resources they need to effectively serve and protect the community.
(1) Greater Opportunities for All Elyria Citizens: Promoting equal access to opportunities for all members of the community, with partnerships in business, education, and job development.
My timeline is to achieve in the first term.
