I have over 25 experience in the education field. As a born and raised citizen of the Antelope Valley I am truly invested. All three of my children have been educated in the AV,and most recently my youngest son graduated from Antelope Valley College in the Spring and now attend UC Berkeley. I owe a debt of gratitude to the staff of AVC and would like the opportunity to give back to the organization that gave my family so much.
As a current educator I feel that I am well connected to the students and community as a whole. With over 30% of the students in the Palmdale School District being English Learners I have a great deal of experience soliciting input from community members who do not speak English. Having active roles in may committees made up of English Learners and serving on the board of directors for the California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE) I am confident that I can represent the needs of our entire community.
