Biographical Information

What are the top three legislative priorities you believe the Indiana General Assembly should address in the upcoming session?

What do you see as the unique opportunities and challenges facing Marion County and how will you work to address them? How will those efforts impact the broader Central Indiana region and/or the rest of the state?

What should the state government do to provide an equitable, quality education for all children pre-K through grade 12?

What measures would you propose to increase voter engagement and access in our state?

I believe environmental legislation in response to climate change is necessary.

I support a woman’s right to access birth control, Plan B, and to travel out of state to obtain a safe and legal abortion.

I would support policies aimed at increasing voters’ access to the polls, including automatic voter registration and expanding early & absentee voting.

I would oppose legislation that would restrict an individual’s access to gender-affirming health care.

I believe that gun safety legislation is necessary to prevent gun violence.

I would oppose legislation that restricts students and teachers from discussing race, gender, and sexual orientation in public schools.

Addressing education shortcomings, restoring women’s medical rights to control their own bodies and voter referendum reform legislation.
The I-69 interstate project has changed my district drastically and will continue to do so, it is a huge financial opportunity for my voters and the people of the southwest corner of Marion county- but we want it done with our input too, not to be bulldozed over and used. Marion county also needs to address the cannabis issue, we are the cross roads of America and Indianapolis sits at the center of an illicit black market harming families of all shapes and sizes. Illinois, Michigan and Ohio have cannabis use for adults 21+ and that means we’re sending tax dollars out of the state and bringing in black market products to be sold to underage users- it’s unacceptable and presents an opportunities and challenge to be tackled.
The state should provide more in the way of food security and safety for children. Every parent needs to know and as a community it needs to be expressed fully that our students won’t be threatened or intimidated from within or with out. I want to attend classes, I want to see with my own eyes and ears what is going on. As a state representative, to provide quality education to you and your neighbors and your family- I will listen and be present.
We as a state should push for making voting day a holiday so that important groups have their chance to vote. Our hurdles to jump through should be strong but reasonable and fair in terms of voting. Our postal service is strong, much stronger than gets credit, and they can handle more ballot mail ins because they’ve done it time and time again, we should expand absentee access.

As a husband and father, I know I am built by the hands of every loving woman that has raised me, my grandmother, my mom and even my wife and daughter. Women are the educators and explorers of our world and it is high time the recognition comes through. I vow to always listen and be present to everyone in my community, I shall not shy away from owning up to my mistakes and stay humble to the fact that every day I learn more and more from the members of my community. As a strong union supporter- I’d like to echo a small story. Lawrence, Kansas- the women’s strike. A woman walks down the street with a sign reading ‘Bread- yes, But roses too..’ because hearts can starve as well as bodies, and no woman should ever carry such a burden alone.
