I am currently in my second year as the District 30 Representative in the SC House. I have formed great relationships with other House members and Senators. I also have worked hard on constituent services and have great relationships with SC State officials and County and Town officials in SC District 30. I have served on boards and managed small businesses for most of my adult life. I will be able to go to Columbia on day one and continue building on the great work that the SC General Assembly accomplished in the 125th session.
Infrastructure and Growth,
Education,
Fighting Federal Government Overreach
South Carolina is currently making investments in infrastructure in rural areas. Investments need to be continued to increase rural access to services like internet and health care. E-learning during COVID brought attention to the fact that many rural areas in SC do not have internet coverage. That is being addressed through broadband expansion. Healthcare in rural areas is also a concern. We have to work with Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and VCOM to expand healthcare to the rural areas of Cherokee, Spartanburg and Union Counties. VCOM recently received a grant for a mobile healthcare unit that is taken to the rural areas of the three counties. We must continue this type of work.
SC is one of the fastest growing states in the country. While we must have growth to prosper, we must balance that growth with conservation. We have to continue investing in things such as the conservation bank. We have to work with landowners to protect our farmlands and water sources. Counties have to closely watch their zoning while preserving property rights.
