As a woman with various chronic conditions, I personally appreciate access to various women's health related tests, procedures, and other medical activities designed specifically for women. To prevent unintended consequences to the woman and/or child, our health care system should provide a safe way for individuals to access medical interventions.
I will support the housing initiatives started by proactive lawmakers, including House Speaker Joseph Shekarchi and related legislation that may further enhance affordable housing projects in Rhode Island. I also support increasing living wages for families in order to retain revenue in Rhode Island and will vote favorably if such legislation is presented in the General Assembly. For individuals and families who may have or care for a person with disabilities, I'm proud to have a blueprint plan in place that affords caregivers the ability to apply for and receive a caregiver tax incentive. To empower those who are economically disadvantaged, we must continue financially supporting/increasing resources for those vulnerable populations.
I will support commonsense gun safety proposals that continue to pave the way for responsible gun owners to bear arms while also having safeguards in place to ensure weapons do not result in unintended, negative consequences for the public and children. I will also support the reduction of military style firearms being accessible to the general public, policies that eliminate ghost guns and other diy kits.
Voting access should not be hindered or sacrificed as the result of creating secure election measures. For example, providing an ID in order to cast a ballot targets already vulnerable and underserved populations who may not have access to obtain an ID due to demographics (where they reside), financial constraints, etc. If an individual is registered to vote, is a law-abiding taxpayer, they should be afforded the opportunity to participate in our democratic process.
Rhode Island has a robust plan to have zero emissions and it's my responsibility to ensure that my district is doing its part, and that legislation is passed to move the initiative forward in a way that hits the targeted deadline. Aside from that, I'm in strong support of continuing to work towards eliminating any forever chemicals that are produced or sold within the state and learning about other potentially harmful practices that we can address at the legislative level. Developing incentives to promote alternative energy and reduce pollution are also priority environmental issues of mine.
