The avoidable loss of natural resources, wildlife, nature, destructive development on virgin land, disrespect & abuse of wetlands & their inhabitants, speciesism, control by the meat, and dairy industries and lack of regulations to protect, preserve those very victims used as food. Planning for alternatives to animal product based food for humans must happen now, lest we won't experience civilization, end to wars, healthy environmental for all species -not just the human sort. Youth need to be encouraged to use Maine's composition onto the arts of ever lasting worth-unlike using drugs for escape or personal pain. Stop causes of homelessness & poverty at its sources. Allow seniors to live at home with assistive help instead of nursing home
Don't be just "party people". Interact and exchange ideas for a progressive Maine with opposite political party members and rise towards peaceful civilization with mutual hope & respect. Incorporate non-violent foods at meetings & outings, devoid of harmful unhealthy blood foods. Peace begins on the meal plate. Make available alternatives such as plant based and ocean sea plant edible highly nutritious food selections being conscience and inclusive of other species while planning for the future. Nothing is gained when other species are allowed or driven to extinction. Constituents must present problems we can solve together and find happiness in our abilities for peace, progress and preservation of the best of humanity. Reach me now.
Develop a "Section 8" type rental program whereby applicants & renters will encounter equality by paying rent according to their income - all living in the very same buildings or places. Then the problem of affordability will disappear. Blindness to wealth and poverty in the same location quarters will give time for concentration making peaceful progress.
Stop towns from taking poor people's homes selling them for a profit without compensation to the homeowners. Making them homeless, then destroying nature to build rental apartments for people made homeless is cruel and wrong. Repurpose established buildings for homes, like old shopping centers or abandoned building instead of developing wildlife habitat making them homeless too.
My paternal heritage goes back to recorded early 1600's Kittery, Maine and Portsmouth, NH USA. I've felt obligated to return & carry on and be of use here. I am an artist, painter, poet, lifelong vegan, single parent who has lived and volunteered in 3rd world countries knowing poverty and periodic homelessness myself. I brought my little family totally vegan in Kittery as healthy, gentle & compassionate offsprings who work for ani protection , disability rights, civil rights, human rights, and volunteering in the most destitute places as I also do when able. In Africa especial, I like to show people reasons to stay and work and love their own country and not leave nor give up. I'm happy when awed by the arts created by people.

Significant lack of affordable housing, insufficient child protection services (especially for children in the juvenile justice system), lack of mental health care services, aging healthcare and first responder work force, and climate resiliency are the greatest challenges facing Maine right now.
Over the last four years serving, I have learned that citizens become engaged when they feel like they are being heard, when their basic needs are being met, and when they understand what is going on. Keeping people updated and answering promptly to constituent needs is extremely important in encouraging ongoing civic engagement. Some may not know how to start to get involved, but a simple conversation can be a building block to a more engaged constituent.
Lack of affordable housing is a multifaceted issue. With stagnant wages, high healthcare costs, lack of lower-income housing, insufficient building, and building cost increases, we have an affordable housing crisis in Maine and in the nation. I have supported, and will continue to support legislation around: rental assistance, increasing the state contributions for general assistance, and developing financial assistance programs for rental housing for Maine workers that earn too much to qualify for state or federal support programs. In addition, I will continue to champion access to affordable healthcare and livable wages.
I served on two committees this last legislative session, Criminal Justice and Public Safety, and Health Coverage and Financial Services. I was fortunate to chair the commission on Foreign Trained Physicians, and my bill, LD 1836, An Act Regarding Insurance Coverage for Diagnostic and Supplemental Breast Examinations, was signed into law. This law removes financial barriers for those who require diagnostic or supplemental breast imaging. Early detection saves lives and I’m thrilled to have been the sponsor of this bill.
