County Harney

Sustainability of viable jobs, promoting industry, and maintaining a thriving population to sustain quality services like public safety, healthcare, and education. Our county government can play an integral role in removing obstacles for commerce, as well as promoting and defending the county’s interests in the state field. Our top priority needs to be protecting and strengthening our sustainable agricultural positions while looking for additional business opportunities and economic development. Managing and enhancing our natural resources is a direct line to a stronger economy which is a direct line to better schools, better jobs, and a better future for all of us.
My values are consistent with the best traditions of our county. I believe strongly in local leadership that ensures the rights of the citizens are protected while allowing for and encouraging innovation, news ideas, and ingenuity. A strong background in leadership and service, both educationally and in practice, makes me a strong candidate for commissioner. In addition to teaching leadership skills, I have applied speaking and parliamentary proficiency in my work on a plethora of boards and committees in the past decade, including the Planning Commission, Hospital Board, and School Board. I know how to make the tough calls on revenue and spending without compromising necessary investments to fund essential public services.
I believe it is the role of government to empower the citizens it represents. By encouraging commerce and eliminating bureaucratic roadblocks, I believe we can begin to address the housing issues in our region. The role of government is not to dictate supply and demand, but rather gauge the current and future climate and clear a path so industry and citizens can achieve success. We have to build our economy. By attracting new industries, we will directly influence the resources available to kids and schools, increase investments into our local economy, and create good-paying jobs, which increases livability and home affordability.
