To assess and identify non-resource land that can be used to build different housing types; ease zoning requirements; reduce the time and cost for permits; add training and construction apprenticeship programs to increase our construction workforce to support this needed industry; enhance our down payment assistance programs; and advocate at the state-wide level to waive or reduce property taxes for seniors, the disabled, veterans, those below the median income, or those paying > 30% of their income on housing in Deschutes County. I support building a manufactured home development for our struggling families. I will work with non-profit and private sector developers to encourage a % of affordable units with every new housing development.
