Public Safety: Respect and Support for our Law Enforcement Professionals. Housing: I'm honored to serve on the Oregon Housing and Homeless Committee. We simply must change to a more Oregon business friendly environment which has to include our Builders and Developers. Land Use Restrictions updates. Less burdensome regulations. Boosts to communities. Bring down expensive costs of construction. I supported Governor Kotek's Housing Plans and Legislation both in 2023 and 2024. In 2023 I introduced and we passed HB1013 and we also passed 4 significant bills this short session, however we have much additional work - we have to be aggressive to solve Oregon's Home shortages. My Homeless and Addictions Response follows - Thank You. Court Boice
As a 6-year former County Commissioner, I did all possible to learn about Mental and Behavioral Health - in particular Drug Addictions. In the 2023 Session I supported the Bi-Partisan solution of re-criminalizing Hard Drug Use and Mandatory Treatment for those with addictions. I've also strongly promoted funding to help Counties, District Attorneys and Recovery Centers. As with all major issues and problems facing Oregon - we still have a tremendous amount of work to do on Substance Use Disorders - good pressure to do all we can to stop people from dying in the streets. Further - we have to challenge and teach our children to never get started on Marijuana, Tobacco, Alcohol and all related. Thank you for this question... Court Boice
Wildfire Mitigation - my No. 1 issue. Of the 60 House Reps. I've been an 8-year Oregon leader in Fire Awareness, Prevention, Response, Suppression n Recovery. I'll keep working - unite all teams and Funding for our Fire Fighting success's - all Gov. levels. We must improve our Forests, Watersheds, Fish and Wildlife Habitat Managements. Improve our Burned Timber Salvage. Keep our Roads and Trails open. Oregon has the highest quality, fastest growing trees on the planet and we're allowing costly unnecessary incinerations. Everything that Catastrophic Fire touches becomes Fire. They are the greatest threat to our Public Safety. $500 Mill. has been spent in the last 30 years in my Curry County alone! We can do better! Thank You. Court Boice

Our rural towns and cities have aging, ailing FRESH WATER & SANITATION infrastructure. This shortcoming restricts HOUSING development and building capabilities of our municipalities. Shortage of HOUSING restricts SMALL BUSINESS GROWTH, impedes workforce such as teachers, police, fire and medical staff and CHILD CARE workers as well as impacting the growth of the local tax base which supports our local PUBLIC SAFETY infrastructure. As you may see, all of these issues carry equal priority and require equal attention. I will work with my House colleagues to support and address: FRESH WATER & SANITATION, HOUSING, SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, PUBLIC SAFETY and CHILD CARE.
I have deep respect for the will of Oregon Voters and support the intent of M110. There have been public concerns regarding the application of law as created by M110. I support changes that will incentivize mental health and drug treatment programs which will improve the lives of those who find themselves in the throes of substance abuse. Providing such services to those willing to seek rehabilitation as a means of return to everyday society is the compassionate means that, I believe, was the intent of Voters, including me, who voted yes on M110. I also support harm-reduction programs in all of their forms as a means to further reduce law enforcement's involvement in the field of mental health and substance abuse treatment.
I support an Environmental Rights Amendment to our State's Constitution. Protection of everyone's right to a healthy environment and a stable climate that includes clean air and drinking water, especially regarding support of our fresh water and sanitation systems. Wildfire mitigation is something that everyone in District 1 should support. Some of the most heavily forested areas of Southern Oregon are contained within District 1. Because of the change in our global climate and local environments, the threat of wildfire is an ongoing and constant issue. It is through legislative planning that we will address inter-agency actions and maintenance of our lands, forests and waterways. A task that I am willing to address!
