Make sure residents & especially the voters have a voice in the decisions made by the County Board; that they feel respected & their opinions valued. A Supervisor should get input from the people and carefully check the statistics presented.
Transparency of proceedings especially at Open Meetings should be a priority. For instance, even during called breaks by the Chair the camera & microphone shouldn't be shut off.
Collaboration between County Government, public and business, private entities.
Health Committee regularly should bring in Providers & other guests to present & learn of options for providing services. For example, Mental Health is a hot topic for several years, how do we facilitate more services & providers? How do we encourage State & Federal Governments to encourage insurance companies to treat mental health as a disease when a Dr orders a treatment plan & pay for it accordingly. If we still had access to UWExtension perhaps Art Lersch could facilitate a Forum.
How can we support families to raise healthier, happy to learn children?
The current Landfill Crisis speaks of the adage Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance. Not keeping an ongoing equipment fund savings account started this deteriorating condition of no workable compactor. Encourage even facilitate recycling so the current cell or the next one doesn't fill so fast.
Develop a program to recognize Green Measures in the Private as well as the Public Sector.
Because we're a Rural County, federal funds need to be prioritized by the condition of the pavement & roadbed as well as vehicle traffic on the road. City of Merrill is conducting an expanded area served by the Merrill Go Round thru Aug 31. Perhaps when that's completed, the County Board should attend presentation of findings. Again, collaborative efforts should be pursued as often as possible.
The Administrative & Legislative Committee just agreed to move ahead with digital marketing with Midwest Communications to bring more tourists to Lincoln County. Perhaps they've ideas individual Supervisors could use.
A Lincoln County Supervisors facebook page could be developed with an administrator to oversee content. But individual Supervisor could post on that site too.
