Description of office: The General Assembly is the legislative branch of government in Pennsylvania. It is composed of two houses: the Senate is the upper house, and the House of Representatives is the lower house. A majority vote in both houses is necessary to pass a law. The PA House of Representatives consists of 203 members representing one district each, with an equal number of constituents. Representatives must be at least 21 years old, have been a citizen and a resident of the state four years and a resident of their respective districts one year before their election, and shall reside in their respective districts during their terms of service. The House develops budget packages, makes taxation decisions, allocates spending, and passes laws (including redistricting in collaboration with the Senate). The House also has the exclusive authority to impeach public officials. Representatives also serve on various policy committees that may propose legislation. Qualifications
Finishing my 2nd term as your Representative. Our office is one of the busiest in our State and always will be.
Our main issues have been with us on a recurring voice for so many years. It's why it is so important to get out the vote and make your voices heard. Women's right to choose, equality for our LGBTQ+ community, gun safety, easier access to health care, lowering taxes for our elder community so they can stay in their homes, lowering prices on medication, significant changes to make our earth sustainable, the list goes on. I will continue to fight for these rights. We have sent hundreds of House Bills to our colleagues in the Senate with no response. It's time to demand action and have your voices heard.
I would encourage the use of mail-in ballots more, which I already do. I feel PA has been a good state in making sure, already, that our security and access to polls is on the right track. I want our legislature to acknowledge the importance on opening our primaries to Independent voters and follow through with it.
Governor Shapiro has shown us his intentions on addressing this issue with our upcoming Budget going forward. Our State Universities are agreeing with him as well on consolidation.
We need to keep it loud and clear that women are in charge of their own bodies and their own choices. Period.
