I am running for the school board because I am deeply passionate about our community's education and committed to its success. With almost a decade of active involvement in various volunteer roles across the Westside district, I bring extensive experience to the table. My transition onto the board has been shaped by diverse leadership roles, providing me with the skills needed to address issues openly and collaboratively. If elected, my priorities include advancing Phase 2 of the bond plan, promoting academic excellence, and preparing students for future success. I am dedicated to serving with competence, compassion, and a shared vision for our community's future.
Running for the school board is about embracing responsibility to guide and nurture our community's education. It involves crafting policies, ensuring transparency, and holding the superintendent accountable. As a candidate, I'm committed to managing taxpayer expectations and overseeing the completion of our master plan. Accountability is crucial; we must collaborate with the superintendent to ensure efficient operations. I am eager to continue my contribution to our board's consensus-building culture and prioritize responsible financial management to support student learning.
Parents and schools can collaborate effectively by fostering open communication, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to student success. Schools should regularly engage parents through avenues like parent-teacher conferences, newsletters, and school events, providing insights into academic progress and addressing concerns. Conversely, parents can support schools by attending meetings, volunteering, and participating in decision-making processes. Together, they can create a supportive environment that nurtures each student's academic, social, and emotional development, ultimately enhancing the overall educational experience for all.

As a parent of two children and a Westside graduate myself, I know firsthand the importance of a high-quality education. I want every student to have the best education possible. That is why I am seeking re-election for District 66's Board of Education. If elected my priorities would be to ensure academic excellence at all grade levels, continue our efforts for teacher recruitment and retention, and maintain high quality budget management.
A school board member's role is oversite for the district and to represent the taxpayers of the district in which I serve. This differs from the day-to-day responsibilities of the superintendent.
Parents and schools can work together by learning from each other and listening to each other. Engagement and communication are important pieces to this partnership.
