4-year term, limited to two consecutive terms, $12,000Members of the country’s only unicameral legislative body create laws and make the rules for Nebraskans under certain constitutional limitations. This body also oversees many health care services and decides how much money public schools (from kindergartens to colleges) receive each year. Educators and Non-Educators taking away parental rights and autonomy in their student's education. We are losing hardworking individuals and families to our neighboring states. Within the United States, there is a huge exodus of the East and West Coast of young families and businesses. They are heading to the Midwest. Nebraska's tax structure as it currently stands is not competitive at recruiting new businesses and new families. Solution: Copy Iowa's tax model which implements a flat tax across incomes, while reducing property tax rates. Additionally, eliminate the Estate or "Inheritance" Tax, and raise the consumption tax by .5%. Property tax relief can be started by capping valuation increases to no more than 2% aggregate over a 3-year period.
